A bridal shower for …
Kirsty & Morven invite you
to a bridal shower for their sister
before she marries Callum
Saturday, 11 September 202712:30 pm
Glenhope Mill · Innerleithen, Scotland

Our wee sister is getting married. Before she does, we are gathering the women who love her at Glenhope Mill, where our gran worked the looms for thirty-one years.
There will be lunch at the long table, a teapot that never empties, and one small thing we would like to make together. Come as you are, and bring your stories about her.
With love, Kirsty & Morven

Woven row by row
12:30 pm
At the mill door
Tea in the yard, and a walk past the looms for anyone curious.
1:00 pm
Lunch at the long table
Cullen skink, warm bannocks and a cheese board from Peebles.
2:15 pm
The wishing blanket
Gran’s loom, and a few rows from each of us.
3:15 pm
Gifts & cake
Isla opens her parcels; Morven cuts her Victoria sponge.
4:00 pm
One last cup
Then home, before the light cools on the hill.
Read it like a weaver’s draft: one row for each part of the day.

Our one small ritual
Gran’s old loom is warped and waiting. Each of us will weave a few rows into a blanket for Isla and Callum, in a yarn chosen from the basket, saying a wish out loud as the shuttle crosses. The mill will finish it, and it goes home with them.
No skill needed. Morven will show you how.
If you would like to bring a gift
Isla and Callum keep their list at Hollis & Reid on George Street, Edinburgh, and online.
See the listOr bring a skein for Gran’s basket. That is gift enough.
Before you come
Anything in the hillside’s colours. Bring a warm layer: the old shed keeps its chill, even in September.
The Borders Railway runs from Edinburgh Waverley to Galashiels. Take the 11:24 am train and Kirsty will meet you with the car; the mill is twenty minutes away. There is parking in the mill yard.
